Our skin is a reflection of our health and well-being from within. Nutrition is extremely important in how ‘flawless’ our skin can and will be. Often times, there is a particular food that is placed in the spotlight as ‘THE’ answer to all of our skincare prayers. The truth is there are many foods that can be our Savior. So, where do we start? What do we eat? We want to have flawless skin now and not later, right?


Here are three Super Foods that we should start eating now! Let’s dig in.


1. Avocado


Avocado is nutritionally rich in Vitamins A, D, E, potassium, lecithin, and beta-carotene. It also has the fatty acids – palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic. The high content of sterolins is known for helping to reduce age spots and scars.


Avocado has a superior moisturizing effect and is effective in assisting with the rejuvenation and regeneration of skin cells.

2. Wild Salmon


Wild salmon is super rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamins B3, B6, B12, D, phosphorous, magnesium, and selenium. Salmon helps our skin by reducing the damage from free radicals that are caused by stress, lifestyle, and aging.


 
3. Olive Oil


Olive oil is high in antioxidants and Vitamin E. This oil is great for helping our bodies fight free radicals which accelerate aging. The great thing about olive oil is that we can use it to protect our bodies on the inside and outside. We can eat and apply it directly to our skin. It is recommended that we use the ‘extra virgin’ olive oil only as it in one of its purest states.

So, let’s find a way to incorporate these three super foods into our daily meals. For me, I will start with eating guacamole more often which is not a problem because I love it! Also, I will experiment with different recipes and have at least one meal during the week with wild salmon. For the olive oil, I will replace all other oils used with this goodness.

Great makeup brushes are essential to a flawless makeup application. Brushes are designed with a specialized purpose for specific cosmetic products to blend well with specific face features. Of course there are many brushes available. We have tons of choices – size, head shapes, hair type, and handle lengths. In reality, we can easily end up with 50 brushes to tackle our makeup needs, but we first need to make sure that we have the essential makeup brushes in our makeup kits.

Face

 Large Powder Brush: Designed to provide flawless application of powder to face and/or body.

 Foundation Brush: Designed o create a smooth, even finished, and flawless look. Used to apply and blend foundation into all areas of the face.

 Concealer Brush: Used for precision blending of concealer makeup or other emollient based products.

 Blush Brush: Tapered brush for shading and highlighting your cheeks.

Eyes

d) 70% + Alcohol

2. Instructions

a) Spray brush cleaner onto paper towel.

b) Using figure 8 motions, wipe the brush head until there is no more makeup residue on paper towel.

c) Lay brushes flat to dry.

d) Spray brushes with alcohol when dry.



3. Tips

a. Clean brushes every 2 weeks or more often if you wear different makeup colors often.

b. Use gentle pressure when cleaning brushes.

c. Allow brushes to dry overnight if possible.

Under eye Concealer has a huge expectation and responsibility for combating various skin issues under our eyes and in turn making our faces look perfect. We buy concealer to fix our under eye circles, under eye bags, under eye wrinkles, under eye puffiness, under eye lines, under eye redness, under eye pimples and it goes on. So, in simple terms, under eye concealer 'conceals' irregularities.

There are many different types of under eye concealer in the beauty market, but what type of concealer works best for you?

Powder concealer is light-weight and blends in very naturally with your foundation and skin. This concealer can also be used under and over your foundation. Powder concealer is best when used to help you with under eye circles and under eye pimples, but it will not cover very dark circles or very red pimples. Powder concealer works best for combination and oily skin types and should be applied with a brush.

Liquid concealer gives good coverage and consistency and works well to even dark and very dark under eye circles, under eye bags, under eye redness and under eye pimples. This concealer can be applied with your finger tips or a brush. Liquid concealer works best for those with dry skin.

Cream concealer gives medium to heavy coverage and gives a lot of options for use because it works well for helping with all under eye issues. This concealer should be applied with a brush in thin layers as it is easy for too much to be applied which will give a cakey look. Cream concealer can work for all skin types. Cream concealer also comes in a stick form which is great for applying directly on the problem area.

While selecting the right type of under eye concealer that works best for you is important, how do you know what is the right shade of concealer for you?

The shade of concealer that is right for you is one to two shades lighter than your skin tone. Your concealer should have a high pigment level to help with the skin irregularities that you have. If the concealer is too light of a shade, it will give you an owl look.

In the summer and winter seasons, it is very important to monitor your skin tones as they become darker and lighter respectively. This affects the shade of your concealer. It is common to have various shades of concealer to complement your skin tone at different times in the year.

What is the right way to apply under eye concealer? How do I fit it in my makeup routine?

Concealer is applied after the foundation and before finishing powder. Concealer should always be applied with translucent powder to set and prevent creasing. It is recommended to use eye cream after moisturizer under the eyes so that your concealer goes on smoothly. When applying concealer, you should start in the center under the eyes, and blend towards the inner and outer corners of the under eye. When using concealer to cover other areas on the face, simply dot concealer on with a brush or your fingertip and press and blend in the skin.

I love sharing beauty tips and advice with women that I meet and work with. Beauty information is everywhere and sometimes we may not know who to believe, who to follow and what to practice. I gathered a list of the Top 10 Beauty Advice Tips that I have learned working in the beauty profession. I want to share with you so here goes! -


1) Always, Always, Always wear Sunscreen

2) Never go to bed without washing your face

Picking your stick: The Facts About Lip Color Products

A person’s gaze is drawn to your mouth as you speak, eat, smile or kiss. If your lips are a mess, it says something negative about you. A smooth coat of flattering color will emphasize this mobile and beautiful feature of your face. There are so many options for lip cosmetics that it really can be confusing trying to figure out what is best for you. You have numerous choices in terms of color, wearability, moisturizing and sun-protection capabilities, and every brand gives you a variety of products among which to choose. There are four main categories of lip cosmetics: lipstick, lip stain, lip gloss and lip balm. Here are some facts and suggestions to help clear up your confusion.

What is Lipstick? 


 Lipstick has been around for a long time: it is speculated that the Egyptians are the earliest known people to use it. Lipsticks contain waxes, oils, pigments and emollients. There are many lipsticks on the market that contain collagen, sunscreen, moisturizer, and vitamin E which provides lips an extra bonus by moisturizing and protecting them from the environment. There is a variety lipstick finishes on the market including frosted, matte, cream and shimmer.

What is Lip Stain?

Lip stain is designed to saturate the lip with long-lasting color. Once it dries on the lip, it won’t smear, stain, transfer, or wear unevenly. Lip stain is a great way to keep lips pretty for hours without the upkeep of reapplications. Lip stains come in a variety of shades. It is always wise to test the color before buying. Lip stains come in a variety of application formulas, including brush-on, marker tip, gel pump, cream or pot. Lip stain works with any make-up style as it can be used with either a natural and dramatic makeup application.

                                                       What is Lip Gloss?

Lip gloss is mainly used to give lips a shiny brilliance and sometimes a hint of color. You can wear it by itself or as a top layer over lip balm, lipstick or lip stain. Lip gloss can be clear, translucent or come in a range of colors. Also, there are many options to have a lip gloss with a special finish, such as glitter, frosty, metallic and more. Some lip gloss contains sun protection and moisturizer. You can even have flavored lip gloss!

What is Lip Balm?

Lip balm is medicine for your lips. It softens and smoothes dry, even cracked lips. It may contain medication to heal sore lips. Some lip balm comes with a hint of color. Some lip balm is flavored. You can buy it in tube, stick or jar form.

Choosing a lipstick color does not have to be a daunting chore. The most flattering lip tones will be one or two shades darker than your natural lip color, according to makeup artist Bobbi Brown. To make this easier, visit cosmetic counters where you are allowed to try lip colors on before you buy them. Use your fingertip to test the lip color on your bottom lip and compare the shade to the upper lip.

-Light skin tones are complemented with light beige and brown with pink and orange undertones.

-Medium skin tones look good with light browns and plum .
-Dark skin tones are awesome with wines, plums, browns and deep reds.

Bonus Tips for Lips:

Exfoliate – Exfoliate your lips daily to get rid of dead skin that hinders a smooth lip color product application. You can buy are lip exfoliators in some stores, but a simple method is to brush your lips gently with your toothbrush every time you brush your teeth.
Hydrate – Lip products are best applied when the lips are soft and moist. It is best to use a lip balm about five minutes before you apply a lip color product. The lip color product will go on smoothly and evenly in this way.

New Jersey Indie Fashion Designers unite to connect fashion and Epilepsy awareness.

BELLEVILLE, NJ – Friday, September 3, 2010 – In an effort to raise awareness and aid for Epilepsy, Stay Media and D&D Boutique present an exquisite trunk show in one of the hottest boutiques to open in Belleville, NJ, D&D Boutique on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 6:00PM – 10:00PM. The trunk show, which is a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, will feature the collections of well-known indie fashion designers such as, Lexx Perry, Jypsea Eclectic Leather Goods, and Stay by Stacey Angela.

This event will prove to be a major mile marker in the indie fashion community and the New Jersey fashion community, respectively. Indie fashion designers Lexx Perry, Jypsea Eclectic Leather Goods, and Stay by Stacey Angela have been seen on A-List celebrities and tastemakers and in the top boutiques around the world. "Historically the fashion and arts community in New Jersey has been underrated. I would love to a part of the process that changes that viewpoint," said Meca McKinney, Founder of Jypsea.com. The four designers will present their new collections and donate a proceed of each of their sales to the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey.

With approximately 2.7 million Americans diagnosed with Epilepsy, statistics show that one in one hundred people will develop Epilepsy. Determined to raise awareness and funds to assist in the research of a condition that has affected her family, Stacey Angela continues to produce fashion events benefiting the New Jersey Epilepsy Foundation. One of her crowning moments was raising $10,000 by auctioning a custom made piece for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. On September 24, 2010, four featured designers will join together to unveil their latest designs for a once in a lifetime fashion event to benefit Epilepsy awareness. We have all seen a case of the 'mismatched' foundation. Not good. Choosing the right foundation is a very important part of your makeup routine and should be treated as such. So, where do you start? Color matching is very important but there are other factors to consider as well such as coverage type, texture and skin type. There are many formulations and types of foundations out there. This article will help you find the ones that are perfect for you. Let's start with the basics and get the low down on the types, textures and what really works your skin.

Powder Foundations

Mineral foundation is very popular in the wake of popularity of 'natural' cosmetics. Mineral foundation can be in a loose form or a compact. Its has light to medium coverage and can be used on normal, combination, and sensitive skin.

Compact Powder foundation is usually fine milled and goes on very smooth. It is great for normal and oily skin. The coverage that the compact powder provides is buildable and it is popular because it gives a very nice matte finish.

Powder Acne foundation is acne-medicated to help with break-outs and blemishes. It is great for oily and combination skin.

Matte foundation is an oil-free foundation that absorbs oil and prevents shine. It works best with combination and oily skin. Matte foundation can also be applied for heavier coverage in the case of covering breakouts.

Acne foundation is a salicylic-medicated foundation created to treat your skin while you wear makeup. It is often a matte foundation so it absorbs oil and works best on oily and breakout-prone skin.

Anti-aging foundation is a moisturizing foundation that helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. They have medium to full range coverage available and often times contain illuminating ingredients that help give dry skin a youthful glow.

We were honored to interview our newest Glamorous Chick - Fashion Designer Ms. Stacey Angela. This talented young woman has had her pieces appear on America's Next Top Model, MTV, BET, and the stylist.com. Her line was also featured in Complex Magazine and LUIRE a Japanese publication.

What makes Stacey Angela glamorous is her passion for spreading awareness about Epilepsy by participating in and organizing countless fashion shows benefiting the illness. Stacey Angela  is definitely a designer on the rise, and the glamorous pieces she creates are a must have in every chick's closet.

1. Tell us little about yourself and your glamorous lifestyle.

My name is Stacey Angela and I'm the creator of Stacey Angela Enterprises, which is an umbrella company for Stay by Stacey Angela Swim, Resort wear, Accessories, and the newly minted Stay Media and Film. After all the work is done, the glamour begins. The dresses, the events, the beautiful, creative, and talented people I have crossed paths with. Very Glamorous Indeed. lol.

2. What matters most to you as a fashion designer?

As a designer it is super important that your line is cohesive with your own vision and style. It is important that you are not easily influenced by what everyone else thinks is hot and stylish. I believe that this is what makes a designer unique.

3. How did you get involved in the positive cause Fashion for Epilepsy?

I had two friends that suffered and died from complications from Epilepsy/seizure disorders. Approximately 3 million people in the United States suffer from Epilepsy/seizure disorders. I was around so many amazing people and I wanted to make a difference by spreading awareness about the illness of Epilepsy through fashion. I wanted those who suffered to not be afraid and live happy lives.
